Terms of service

runfarwhere gathers races, their courses and what's known about them from registration sites, qualifier lists, published course files, results and races' own websites. It isn't run by, or speaking for, any race or its organisers.

Races change their dates, distances, courses, aid stations and cutoffs, and a source can be wrong. Everything here is for planning; the race's own website and its organisers have the final word. Check with them before you enter, book travel, or rely on an aid station or a cutoff.

Nothing on runfarwhere is medical, training or safety advice. Paces, arrival times, grades, climbing and weather are estimates from the course file and past records, and the day itself will differ. You decide what you're fit to run, and you run it at your own risk.

An account is for one person. Keep the email address it signs in with secure: anyone who can read that inbox can sign in. Tell us if you think someone else has used your account.

Premium is a subscription, $5 a month or $40 a year, paid through Stripe. It renews at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel from your account page at any time; Premium lasts to the end of the period you've paid for and isn't renewed. Payments aren't refunded for part of a period, except where the law says they must be.

A new price applies to subscriptions started after it's set. We'll tell you by email before the price of a subscription you already have changes, and you can cancel before it does.

While the site is in its private beta, Premium's details may be open to everyone without paying. That can end at any time.

Premium's details can be opened for a limited number of races a day. The limit is there to stop the courses being copied in bulk, and no one reading races to run them should meet it.

Use runfarwhere for finding and planning races, for yourself or the people you run with. Don't copy races, courses or results from it in bulk, whether by hand or with a script; don't share your account or its sign-in; and don't try to get around the daily limits, reach what an account or Premium keeps back, or disrupt the site for others. Search engines may crawl the public pages as robots.txt allows.

We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. A paying account closed for breaking them has its subscription cancelled, without a refund.

A course file belongs to the race or whoever made it. A GPX file you download from runfarwhere is for your own use, on your own devices — not to publish or pass on. Facts about races come from public sources, credited where they're shown.

The site itself — its text, design, measurements and the way the races are gathered and presented — is runfarwhere's.

If you send us a correction or a suggestion, we may use it to improve the site without owing you anything for it.

runfarwhere links to races' own sites, registration pages and the sources of its figures. We don't control them and aren't responsible for what they say or do.

runfarwhere is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it accurate and running, but we don't promise that any race, course, figure or forecast is correct or complete, or that the site will always be up.

As far as the law allows, runfarwhere isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses — a missed race, a non-refundable entry, travel, or an injury on the course — that come from using the site or relying on it, and its total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here takes away rights that the law where you live doesn't let a contract take away.

You can stop using runfarwhere, cancel Premium, or ask us to delete your account at any time. We may change or stop the service; if we stop Premium, we'll refund the part of any period you've paid for and not had.

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. If a change matters to Premium, we'll email account holders before it takes effect. Using the site after that means you accept the new terms.
